Your phone may have a management profile installed — the kind normally used by employers — that gives another person control over your device, access to your location, and the ability to read your data.
Modern stalkerware is designed to run quietly. A phone that isn't slowing down, overheating, or draining its battery does not mean monitoring software is absent. Trust patterns of behaviour (the other person knowing things they shouldn't) over device performance alone.
On iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. On Android: Settings > Security > Device Admin.
