Work-style device management used to control your phone

Your phone may have a management profile installed — the kind normally used by employers — that gives another person control over your device, access to your location, and the ability to read your data.

What You Might Notice

  • Your phone shows 'This device is managed' or similar

On iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. On Android: Settings > Security > Device Admin.

What You Can Do

  • Check for MDM profiles

If you find a management profile you didn't install, get advice before removing it — the administrator will be notified.

Seek specialist tech safety advice from eSafety Commissioner.

Important: This resource provides general information, not personal advice. Every situation is different. The actions suggested here may not be safe in your specific circumstances — particularly if the person causing harm could notice changes to your devices or accounts. Always consider your physical safety first.
